NASA Deploys Google Gemma 3 in Orbit
NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory sent Google's Gemma 3 into space via the NAVI-Orbital system. The vision-language model analyzed imagery directly from a Loft Orbital satellite sensor. This first in-orbit demonstration proves LLMs can process data on-site. It enables ground researchers to interact with spacecraft using natural language instead of traditional telemetry.
