NASA Deploys Google Gemma 3 In Orbit
NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory sent Gemma 3 into space via the NAVI-Orbital system. The vision-language model analyzed imagery directly from a Loft Orbital satellite sensor. This successful demonstration proves LLMs can process telemetry and imagery on-orbit. Researchers can now interact with spacecraft using natural language instead of traditional command strings.
