NASA Deploys Google Gemma 3 in Orbit
The NAVI-Orbital system successfully used Google's Gemma 3 to analyze satellite imagery directly in space. This marks the first in-orbit demonstration of a vision-language model processing data from its own sensor. The project proves that small, efficient models can operate on orbital hardware.
