NASA Deploys Google Gemma 3 in Orbit
NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory sent Gemma 3 into space via the NAVI-Orbital system. The vision-language model analyzed imagery directly from a Loft Orbital satellite sensor. This first-of-its-kind demonstration proves that small, efficient models can process data on-orbit. Researchers can now interact with spacecraft using natural language instead of traditional telemetry.
