A new position paper advocates for computational argumentation as the formal foundation for Evaluative AI. Instead of single recommendations, this approach presents competing hypotheses with supporting and opposing evidence. It aims to make AI decisions contestable and explainable. Researchers can now use this framework to build distributed, human-centered systems that prioritize evidence over black-box outputs.
