Shogi State Space Shrinks to 10^66
The paper estimates the reachable Shogi positions at 10^66. Using Monte Carlo sampling and a reverse search to King-King positions, the authors close the five‑order‑magnitude gap that had plagued prior combinatorial bounds. The tighter estimate informs AI researchers building search algorithms and game‑playing engines. It refines the theoretical foundation for Shogi AI.
