New Estimate Narrows Shogi State-Space Complexity Gap
A new Monte Carlo sampling method narrows the five-order-of-magnitude gap in Shogi's state-space complexity. Researchers used a reverse search toward "King-King only" positions to distinguish legally reachable boards from invalid configurations. This high-precision statistical estimation provides a more accurate baseline for game-tree search algorithms. It simplifies complexity analysis for strategic AI.
