Apple Automates Sign Language Data Annotation
A new pseudo-annotation pipeline converts signed video and English text into ranked annotations for glosses and fingerspelled words. Apple developed this system to unlock underutilized datasets like ASL STEM Wiki. It reduces the prohibitive cost of manual labeling. Researchers can now scale high-quality training data for sign language models more efficiently.
