OpenAI Launches MRC Networking Protocol For GPUs
OpenAI partnered with NVIDIA, Intel, AMD, Broadcom, and Microsoft to create MRC, an open-source protocol. It routes data across hundreds of paths simultaneously, reducing switch layers from four to two for clusters of 100,000 GPUs. This architecture currently runs on the Stargate supercomputer. The shift cuts power consumption and hardware costs for massive scale training.
