Researchers Narrow Shogi State-Space Complexity Gap
A new Monte Carlo sampling method narrows the five-order-of-magnitude gap in Shogi's state-space complexity. Researchers utilized a reverse search toward "King-King only" positions to identify legally reachable board configurations. This statistical approach provides a higher-precision estimate than previous combinatorial methods. The finding refines the theoretical bounds for game-tree search and state-space analysis.
